You will see from the above that I have rated the holiday experience as excellent. Found it very difficult to differentiate between places that we stayed at.
Your planning was spectacularly thorough and the places that you recommended turned out, without exception to be magnificent. If I had to choose one place as outstanding it would have to be Prana Lodge, closely followed by Kwandwe. But they were all excellent and we have come away with fond memories of each place.
What would we do differently? With hindsight we would look more carefully at some of the journeys as they often took longer than original estimates even cross checking with Google maps journey planner. Sometimes this could be attributed to weather conditions, as we experienced some very heavy rain on several of our longer journeys.
In general we found the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu Natal more interesting than the standard tourist section of the Garden Route, beautiful as that was. I think this was because we had finished on the project at Port Elizabeth and were ready to taste more of the real South Africa rather than that served up for the tourist in the Western Cape. We did however indulge ourselves somewhat in the Eastern Cape and KZN.
Will we come back? – Can’t wait! – Time and finances permitting we will most definitely return.
